VPI Commercial Realty is actively engaged in the procurement, management, development and re-development of Commercial Real Estate, focusing on both company owned and third party transactions. The principals of VPI have in excess of 36 years of combined experience, developing, building and managing over 20 Million Square Feet of retail real estate in some of the country’s most prestigious shopping centers. The company’s principal’s, Keith Thompson and David Hinkle, are supported by a professional staff and partnership of marketing, accounting, and financial professionals. The principal’s accomplishments include:


  • Past Executives of two successful retail companies: Regal Cinemas, and National Book Warehouse.
  • Development and operation of 20,000,000 + sf. of retail properties.
  • Actively engaged in the development, and leasing of retail centers, comprising over 400,000 sf.
  • National Consulting on numerous aspects of Retail and Outlet Shopping Centers.


Keith Thompson

Keith Thompson

Thompson – President of VPI Commercial Realty, Mr. Thompson was one of the original members of the Regal Cinemas executive management team. Thompson joined Regal in 1991 as Vice President of Finance where he managed the company’s investor and banking relationships, assisted in the valuation, acquisition and integration of theatre assets, and assisted in the company’s 1993 IPO. Subsequently, Mr. Thompson formed the company’s Real Estate Department, consisting of Development, Property Management, and Construction, and oversaw the development, construction and expansion of over 180 locations, in 32 states.

Today, in addition to the active development of commercial and retail real estate, Thompson conducts a national consulting practice, working with clients on numerous aspects of the retail, and commercial real estate industry.






David Hinkle

David Hinkle

Hinkle – CEO of VPI Business Advisors, Mr. Hinkle is past president and co-owner of National Book Warehouse, Inc. (NBW). Hinkle joined NBW in 1990, successfully led Management’s buyout of the company, and created the company’s real estate department. Mr. Hinkle helped pioneer the specialty retail segment of the business, and oversaw all leasing, construction and lease administration for the Company’s permanent store base which he helped grow to 123 locations. During his tenure at NBW, the company operated in excess of 7,000,000 square feet of retail space in 42 states.

Today, in addition to his responsibilities at VPI Business Advisors, he actively consults with both retailers and developers focusing on, traditional, outlet, and entertainment shopping center developments. Mr. Hinkle is Past Co-Chair of the Outlet Retail Manufacturers Association (ORMA) trade group.




Both Hinkle and Thompson are active members of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and Mr. Thompson is a past Trustee. Mr. Thompson and Mr. Hinkle serve on the Board of Directors of two corporations, and participate regularly as speakers and moderators at national real estate conferences for ICSC, ULI and other organizations.
